AGM of Sentiers Chelsea Trails on April 23

Sentiers Chelsea Trails is holding their Annual General Meeting on Monday, April 23 at 7 pm at the Chelsea Community Centre. To become a member or to get involved in helping preserve the future of trails in Chelsea, go to http://sentierschelseatrails.wordpress.com/. Annual membership is $20. Lots of volunteer opportunities available.

What is Sentiers Chelsea Trails?
“Sentiers Chelsea Trails is a community-based group dedicated to the preservation and creation of a green trail network linking the village centre, schools and community centres to neighbourhoods and to the natural assets of Gatineau Park and the Gatineau River.”

ACRE Earth Day Event and Summer Sports Stuff Exchange

This annual event will be held on Saturday, April 21 at the Chelsea Community Centre. The theme this year will be Post Carbon Transportation: Electric Cars and Bikes. There will be various electric bikes available to look at.

The Summer Sports Stuff Exchange will run from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. All sorts of used equipment will be for sale – bikes, soccer cleats, canoes, kayaks,etc..

If you are interested in selling items, you can drop off your gear between 8:30am and 10:00pm. There is a $5 registration fee and a commission of 10% goes to ACRE after the sale. You may pick up the money from any sales you made between 12:30pm and 1:30pm.

From 9:30 – 11:30, St. Mary’s Magdalene Church will be serving up freshly baked waffles, garnished with maple syrup and fruit. Between 11:30 and 12:30, they will be serving  chili and baguette.  There will also be a Bake Table and a Used Book Table.

Free bike tune-ups will also be available!

All submissions for the Meredith Centre Logo Contest are due by 4pm on March 28th. Only 1 day left. The contest is open to all residents of Chelsea (young and old).

Sentiers Chelsea Trails – Hike on Sunday, Oct 16

Information I received about a hike taking placing tomorrow that will be exploring the beautiful pond system along Highway #5.

Don’t miss this outing with Sentiers Chelsea, your community organization which seeks to maintain and encourage the protection of an ecologically sustainable trail network for the benefit of the community.

Time:1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Date: Sunday, October 16, 2011
Location: Musie (trail starts by chemin Amanda)

Sentiers Chelsea Trails invites you to join us for a hike along the ponds from Musie to Larrimac. Alan Richens has kindly agreed to lead the group and provide historical lore of the area.

Please wear sturdy hiking boots and bring water, a snack, rain gear… Hike will take us to Larrimac Golf Club so please arrange for appropriate transportation to/from Musie/ Larrimac

Note: limited parking on Musie so share transportation if possible…. “rain or shine” but hike will not take place if heavy rain expected.

The Great Fire Escape – Oct 12, 7:00 p.m.

National Fire Safety Prevention Week – Get Involved!!

On October 12 (tonight) at 7:00 p.m, every municipality of Quebec will be participating in “The Great Escape“. All residents are encouraged to participate by testing your smoke alarms and practicing your fire drill at home. Fire trucks will be roaming the streets with their sirens on. You can follow this initiative at www.facebook.com/lagrandeevacuation
