On March 25, before the break of dawn, many Chelsea volunteers showed up at the Meredith Centre to prepare breakfast for the Nishiyuu Cree First Nations people. A delicious buffet was served from 6:00 – 7:30 a.m. to over 300 people. All of the food was donated and prepared by Chelsea families.
At 7:30 a.m. the walkers gathered as a group in front of their teepees for one last inspirational speech to carry them through to their final destination. By 8:00 a.m. the walkers were on their way to Victoria Island where they will be setting up camp for the next few days. Nishiyuu Walkers gathered on Parliament Hill this afternoon to deliver their message and to bring awareness to First Nations’ issues in Canada.
