Great Glebe Garage Sale is on May 26th

Every year, thousands of people make their way to the Glebe for the annual Great Glebe Garage Sale. If you’ve never been, then this is definitely something worth checking out. Vendors, selling everything from rare items to books, pots, clothes, and unused treasures, will be set up throughout the neighbourhood. Partial sales of this event will be donated to the Ottawa Food Bank. Vendors are encouraged to donate 10 % of their proceeds.

The Glebe is a beautiful neighbourhood bordered by Bronson Avenue, the Queensway and the Canal.

The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m on Saturday, May 26th, 2012. Rain or shine.

Chelsea Community Tailgate Sale is on June 2nd

Lots of great deals to be found…

When: Saturday, June 2nd, 2012. (raindate is scheduled for  Saturday, June 9th)
Time: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Where: St Mary Magdalene Church parking lot (537 Route 105, Chelsea)
Why: To support local outreach programs

Vendors: For $20, fill up your car with your treasures and come and sell your unneeded stuff. Pay when you arrive. Your $20 fee will go to local charities supported by St. Mary Magdalene.  If you would like to be a vendor, please contact Carole Doutriaux at 819-827-0694 or cdoutriaux@sympatico.ca. Pre-registration is required due to space limits.

Buyers: Lots to buy – no entry fee! There will be all kinds of yard sale treasures, as well as a bake table, book table, coffee, tea and BBQ.

Spaghetti Supper in Hollow Glen on May 25th

“Hungry to Help” invites you to a spaghetti supper on Friday, May 25th at 6:00 pm. The supper will take place at the Hollow Glen Community Centre in Chelsea (12 Park Rd).

Menu:
Spaghetti and caesar salad
Roll and dessert
Beverage

Cost:
$10 for adults
$5 for children

All proceeds go to “Hungry to Help” which is registered charity providing healthy school lunches to needy children in the National Capital Region.

Chelsea Community Days on June 3rd

Book it on your calendars! Chelsea Community Days is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 3rd 2012 from 1:00 – 4:00.  It’s free, it’s fun and it’s all about supporting your community and having a good time.

There will be live music, raffles, games, bake sale, bouncy castles, face painting, food, crafts and so much more!! Something for the whole family.

This event is strictly run by volunteers. If you are interested in helping out, there are lots of jobs that need to be done. Please contact Cyndi at cyndi@grice.ca for more info.

Chelsea Youth Choir Spring Concert

A Musical Gift for Mother’s Day!!
Everyone is Welcome. This is a concert for all ages.

The concert will take place on Sunday, May 13th at 1:30 pm at the Chelsea United Church (8 Mill Rd). Both the senior and junior choirs will be performing a variety of songs.

The conductor is Stephanie Sewell and the Accompanist is Deborah Thomson.

Chelsea Community Spring Fling

Celebrate Spring in Chelsea!
This promises to be a fun event for the whole family. Bring your kids, bring your friends, bring your neighbours!

The Details:
Event : Community Spring Fling
Date: Saturday May 26, 2012.
Time: 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
Location: The fields in front of Chelsea Elementary School
Activities: Fair games, relay races, door prizes, BBQ, bake sale, used book sale and so much more.
Cost: 50 cents per ticket or 3 for $1.00. Tickets can be used to play fair games.

All proceeds will go directly to help raise funds for school technology at Chelsea Elementary.

If you have any used books lying around, they would be happy to accept your donations. Please drop off books anytime during the day at Chelsea School. They also accept old Ipods.

Wakefield Covered Bridge Run on May 5

The 2nd annual Wakefield Covered Bridge Run will take place on Saturday, May 5th, 2012. The race begins at Ski Vorlage (65 ch. Burnside).
All proceeds from this event will go to the Wakefield Recreation Association, which encourages a healthy community through fitness and well being.

2.5 km Family Fun Run/Walk – starts at 9:00
5 km Run/Walk – starts at 9:25
10 km Run/Walk – starts at 10:20
20 km Trail Run – starts a 9:10

Online registration is now closed. However, there is still time to register. You have until 8:30am on Race Day to register for the 2.5 km, 5 km and you have until 9:30am to register for the 10 km. Race Day registration begins on May 5th at 7:30am.

Choromondo – Fundraiser Concert on April 28, 4:30 – 7pm

“Choromondo” is a fundraiser concert to help celebrate the new home of the Wakefield Biblio Library.

The concert takes place on Saturday, April 28th, 4:30 – 7pm at the Library. A reception will follow the concert at the Wakefield La Peche Community Centre (38 Valley Drive, Wakefield).

Tickets are $20, Children are $10. Tickets are available at the Wakefield Biblio Library, Wakefield Express or at the door.
